Our Grooming Standards help our staff maintain a demeanor and appearance consistent with Deer Valley’s first-class image and the expectations of our guests. Please review our grooming standards prior to submitting an application. Deer Valley Resort sets the standard in the ski industry with our well-groomed staff.

Male Staff

Hair must be a natural color, neatly groomed, tapered, and above-collar length. You may have one additional color outside a natural hair color as an accent. Keep in mind that our overall professional image should not draw undue attention.

  • Facial Hair – Neatly trimmed full beards, goatees and mustaches that do not exceed ½ inch in length and in one of the three styles are acceptable. No other interpretations will be allowed. Facial hair must be groomed and defined, including, where applicable, clearly groomed neck and cheek lines. If you do not shave or groom daily, you are not in compliance with this policy. This policy does not allow for unshaven stubble or undeveloped beards while on duty. Facial hair must be fully established at the time of hire and cannot be grown in while working. Mustaches cannot extend more than ½ inch beyond the corner of the lips
  • Sideburns must be straight and shaved to no longer than ear length
  • Piercings – Nose piercing – a single nose stud no larger than 3mm will be allowed. May have one single piercing in each ear
  • Denim pants will be allowed as long as they are of a single color and well maintained (free from holes, rips, tears, distressing or embellishment, etc.)
  • Shorts – During summer operations, men not provided a uniform are able to wear Bermuda length shorts

Female Staff

Hair must be a natural color, neat and easy to maintain; long hair may need to be confined, depending on the job being performed, so as to comply with health regulations and not to endanger the staff member. You may have one additional color outside a natural hair color as an accent. Keep in mind that our overall professional image should not draw undue attention.

  • Cosmetics should be moderate, with a natural look in mind
  • Piercings – Nose piercing – a single nose stud no larger than 3mm will be allowed. No more than three earrings per ear are allowed
  • Denim pants will be allowed as long as they are of a single color and well maintained (free from holes, rips, tears, distressing or embellishment, etc.)
  • Yoga pants, sweat pants, or other casual knit type pants are not acceptable

All Staff

Visible tattoos, in moderation, which are non-offensive and do not distract from our professional image, will be allowed. Tattoos on the face or the neck above the collar height does not fit within the standards. The company has the final judgment of what constitutes acceptable tattoos and you may be asked to completely conceal a tattoo with clothing or uniform pieces while on duty if the tattoo does not meet these standards.

  • All jewelry should be conservative. Small rings, wedding bands, bracelets, and earrings are permitted, but may not be worn while performing work where they might present a safety hazard
  • When skiing, staff are required to wear appropriate ski attire in good repair
  • In some instances your director may establish a more restrictive personal appearance policy. If you have any questions about dress requirements, ask your supervisor
